There appears to be a quarterback controversy brewing in Chapel Hill, and if not, the Tar Heels’ poor offensive numbers indicate there should be. There were also several basketball schedule updates this week, Armando Bacot won a title in Turkey, honors for Ryleigh Heck and Will Hardy, Cole Cloer announced his Top 5, and Women’s Basketball practice tipped off. It turns out that UNC quarterback Gio Lopez’s injury suffered in the loss to UCF is not season ending, but we still don’t know the extent of it. That still doesn’t mean there’s not a quarterback discussion to be had. Backup Max Johnson has moved the offense well and looks more comfortable in the pocket that Lopez.
The disappointing offensive numbers speak for themselves, so we’ll see if Bill Belichick and staff uses this weekend’s open date to make a quarterback switch for next weekend’s game against Clemson:
Speaking of the Clemson game, few people at the beginning of the season would have predicted this game would be a noon kickoff with the teams boasting a combined 3-5 record, but here we are.
That noon kickoff means if you’re attending the pre-game Ludacris concert in Polk Place, it will begin at 10:00 a.m. (free admission). This has to be the earliest show he’s ever done, and I’m interested to see what “family friendly” tweaks he makes to his lyrics. So, be there for “Breakfast with Luda” on Oct. 4.
Defensive back Will Hardy has been named a 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy Semifinalist, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced Wednesday.
And there were also a couple of players who left the team this week.
