Despite the chaos of the last few days about rumored football staff changes, locker-room toxicity, an assistant coach suspension, and a canceled Hulu series, apparently everything is fine within the UNC Football program after Coach Bill Belichick and AD Bubba Cunningham released statements reaffirming their commitments to one another. There’s lots to cover, so on to the updates…

Basketball

The ACC held its annual Tipoff even in Charlotte on Monday and Tuesday signaling the unofficial start of college basketball season, and we got to hear from coach Hubert Davis, Seth Trimble, and Henri Veesaar. R.L. Bynum of Tar Heel Tribune provided their complete transcript and video in case you missed it earlier.

UNC continues to introduce us to the many new faces on this season’s roster, and this week Virginia Tech junior transfer shooting guard Jaydon Young joined Jones Angell and Adam Lucas in the Carolina Insider podcast studio to talk about his first few months as a Tar Heel, growing up a UNC fan, team chemistry, leading as a veteran, and more.

The ACC also released the completed UNC Basketball schedule, which includes game times and TV info that were previously missing.

Congratulations to 2005 National Champion Bobby Frasor, who got married last weekend in Chicago. Tyler Hansbrough posted the Instagram gallery below, and it’s practically a Carolina Basketball family reunion. Looks like everyone had a blast!

Shortly after, I received a fiery email from Leaky’s mother, Carla, letting me know in no uncertain terms that Leaky would 100% be playing in the NBA someday. Well, mama’s always right. Congrats, Leaky (and mom)…I still miss hearing her “Dee-Fense!” chants from the stands 📣

Football

Oh, where to begin with the football drama. This Saturday is UNC Football’s final open date of the season, and it’s supposed to be relatively quiet. But things began to heat up Sunday night when former Tar Heel quarterback Drake Maye put on a show, leading the New England Patriots over the Buffalo Bills on the road in primetime.
