UNC Baseball advanced to next weekend’s Super Regional in Chapel Hill and will host either Texas A&M or USC. It was a big week for Tar Heel Basketball following the commitment of Alexandros Samodurov and signings of Matt Able, Kevin Thomas, and Terrence Brown. UNC Football lost a transfer QB, Volleyball’s European tour is in full swing, and Sarah Gresham left it all on the field for UNC Women’s Lacrosse. On to the updates…
🏀 UNC Basketball, Recruiting & Transfer Portal
The 2026-27 UNC Basketball roster is nearing completion. This past week, UNC announced the official signings of NC State transfer shooting guard Matt Able, who withdrew from the NBA Draft, incoming freshman 5-star wing Kevin Thomas, and Utah transfer point guard Terrence Brown.
Sherrell McMillan at Inside Carolina wrote an insightful two-part piece on Brown and his basketball journey. Brown will wear No. 1 this season in memory of his late Aunt: “The last number she ever saw me wear was the No. 1 UNC jersey.“
In other good news for North Carolina, sophomore guard Neoklis Avdalas has reportedly declined an invitation to participate in the Greece U-20 European Championship in order to focus on his upcoming season with the Tar Heels.
